Home Sweet OREGON!!

We love random trips! One day Lindsay said that she had never been to Oregon and that she wanted to go. So I thought, well lets look at flights. So we looked and booked it. We just went this past weekend and we had such a great time!

First, Lindsay thought it was ridiculous that I brought this bag for only the weekend. But, it's the only one I have.

Once we got there, I took her up to the Holly Farm and gave her a tour.

I told Lindsay before we went into the Wreath Room that everyone will whistle at us. And they did. The people in that room have done that for years...we decided it was there nice way of saying 'hello'! So it was pretty easy to make friends

And Juaquin was nice enough to help us make our own wreath.

I showed her the loading dock where we found who the workers call "El Oso" (Translation: The Bear), who happens to be my dad.

We ate the most delicious Mexican food....so good!

And here are some other pictures that we took of the farm

We also went to two different beaches while we where there - Sunset Beach and Cannon Beach

We also went to the South Jetty, where the Columbia River and the Ocean meet. I long line of rocks was built there to help with the strong tides and currents. It was pretty cool to see the water crash up against the rocks...and to climb up there to get a better view!

We went to the Astor Column that sits on the higest point in Astoria. There are 164 steps to reach the top (I remembered that from my 4th grade class and Lindsay counted them to make sure I was right). The history of Astoria is painted on it. It was pretty windy up there and the view was gorgeous.

I also took Lindsay down to the East Morning Basin where the sea lions are taking over the docks.

Climbing

As many of you know, Lindsay is an avid rock climber. She has recently gotten me into to the sport. I was a little nervous at first, well super nervous before we went...even though we were just going inside. But I went, I did it and I loved it. Now, I even got my own pass to the Quarry (the climbing place in Provo). I was super tired afterwards and my arms were really sore for about 2 days, but I love that feeling. I'm so excited to be able to climb while I live here!

Halloween!

Very spontaneously, we decided to throw a little halloween dessert party. So we got all the stuff and started making all of the desserts. You can find such cool and fun ideas on the internet. We made little fingers out of string cheese and green bell peppers for the fingernails. We made mouths out of apples and slivered almonds. Of course, we made some sweet stuff too - cupcakes, peanut butter pies with a spider web, and swedish cream wafers! Oh my! The cupcakes were my favorite. We made witch cupcakes with a ice cream cone hate and the other cupcakes were made with a tasty cheesecream frosting...so good!

At the party, we bobbed for apples and everyone got really into it...

We competed with one another to see who could do it that fastest. And beleive
it our not, Holly won with a time of 1 second flat and Lindsay came in at 2nd with 1.7 seconds.
Everyone did an awesome job and we loved watching everyone do it!

Here are more pictures of the party...

Here We Are...

We, Lindsay and Holly, want to take a moment and introduce ourselves...
This is Lindsay....

....she likes to climb.
And this is Holly...

... she likes organic food, speaking spanish, the rain, and her hometown in Oregon. She loves to stay up talking til the early hours of the morning, then sleeping in til 10 am the next day. She likes to hike, and eat seafood (only the fresh kind). She has dreams to travel the world and her first destination is Spain, along with the entire European nation. She is a fan of the twilight series, but not the obssessive kind, except when it comes to Taylor Lautner. She has a weakness for fruit popsicles and loves to cuddle up when the weather gets stormy by the fire with hot chocolate. She has been known to have a striking resemblance to Kate Beckinsale, and does indeed drive a VW. She likes to cook her own food and no doubt has a sweet tooth regardless of her healthy diet. She is a very loyal friend and has many surprising life experiences.

Fame

Fame. Awesome. For the one fact that Lindsay had a special moment with Asher Brook from the movie. As soon as his character began to sing for the first time, Holly heard a, "Oh yes" coming from Lindsay. She was smitten. Lets be truthful here, Holly enjoyed Asher just as much.
